New Research: Body weight not correlating with health

Posted by Charles Waisbren on February 10, 2016 at 12:38 PM

OOPS... I might be wrong about all my emphasis on a "healthy" weight. New research shows that a person's body/mass index (weight/height ratio) doesn't really correlate all that well with the incidence of hypertension, hyperlipidemia or diabetes. This information might be like putting "gas on a fire" for us Wisconsinites.

Cesspool Coffee

Posted by Charles Waisbren on February 06, 2016 at 9:43 AM

Say it ain't so! Although convenient, the "K" cup (Keurig) coffee system has some issues. The internal tank and tubing of the brewer can't be drained and hence is a perfect environment for mold and bacteria to grow. Additionally, when the lid of the K cup is perforated to allow for the hot water to drench the coffee, the lid's polyethylene coat is leached into the coffee as well. I think that I will stay with the old fashioned filter system.
