It is not too late. Diet, exercise, smoking cessation (and statins) can remove plaque in your arteries. I favor an ultra-fast CT of the coronary arteries (cash price of $139) to assess if these measures are needed....

Fasting diets are gaining in popularity. I still favor the Waisbren diet: No alcohol; No sugar; No carbohydrates. You end up fasting a bit for you aren't hungry...

Living Alone Can Be Deadly

Men who live alone have a 23 percent increased risk for dying prematurely from any cause and a 36 percent increased risk for cardiovascular death.

The Risks Don't Outweigh the Benefits in the Use of Statins

It is all about possible risks vs benefits: Statins reduce cardiovascular events by 25%/year; coronary artery deaths by 28%/year; blood clots to the legs and lungs by 15-25%/year and also might decrease the risk of developing Alzheimer's Disease. The risks DON'T outweigh the significant benefits in most patients.
