Should I Take a Daily Aspirin?

It is all about risk versus benefit. There is a small risk of aspirin causing bleeding. However, there is overwhelming evidence that aspirin helps prevent heart attacks and strokes. This study reports that if you have little RISK of having a heart attack or stroke, the risk out weighs the benefit of a daily aspirin regiment. HOWEVER, if you have known plaque in your heart or carotid arteries; had a stroke, heart attack, cardiac bypass, cardiac angioplasty or have peripheral artery disease, the BENEFIT of aspirin far out weighs the very small risk of aspirin induced bleeding.
