After controlling for smoking, diabetes, fasting glucose and cholesterol, researchers found that compared with people who slept seven to eight hours a night, those who slept less than six hours were 27 percent more likely to be in the highest one-third for the amount of plaque in their arteries. Hence, get to bed early! (I tell my wife this all the time....)
I'm a calorie guy. I believe in no sugars. Of course, it is better just to skip all sweeteners but if you must...artificial sweeteners appear safe...

Have a wonderful holiday and a happy New Year! Going someplace warm might be nice..... I'll be in town and in the office if you need me.... (I'd rather not travel but just give travel advice....)

Brrrrr....Winter has come....but being cold doesn't really get you sick. You need to come in contact with a cold virus to get that sore throat and cough... However, winter is associated with getting a cold because:
1) Cold viruses are more prevalent during January, February and March.
2) People stay indoors and closer together during the winter months. Hence, it is easier to catch another person's cold.
3) That hot, dry house you cluster in to stay warm is a perfect environment for the cold virus to thrive. They don't live outside the human body nearly as long during those wonderful summer days.
4) Being cold is associated with a drop in your immune status. Hence you become more susceptible to get infected by a cold virus if you aren't toasty...
Bottom line.....Hang in there this winter.....Don't keep your house too dry and too hot(special message to my wife) and dress warmly....
